Pernod Ricard supports responsible and moderate consumption. While its initiatives often concern young people and women, they also target Group employees, who are true ambassadors for responsible drinking.
Adopting exemplary conduct
In order for Pernod Ricard to efficiently communicate its prevention messages, Group employees must set the example by being the first to adopt responsible behaviours regarding alcohol.Motivating Group employees thus involves:
- internal initiatives (training or seminars) that help to inform teams about the stakes of a voluntary responsible drinking policy,
- training sessions specifically geared toward teams who meet with consumers.

Promoting responsible drinking habits
Pernod Ricard sensitises its employees to the risks of excessive consumption. Each subsidiary has set a code of good conduct. The goals:
- Make responsible drinking a mandatory practice
- Communicate low-risk thresholds of alcohol consumption (World Health Organisation recommendations)
- Recommend that people do not drive after drinking
To encourage Group employees to conduct themselves soberly, resources are set aside to ensure code compliance, specific operations are undertaken, and sanctions are applied. To assist these efforts, several initiatives are underway in Group subsidiaries. In the United States, Pernod Ricard gave electronic breathalyser tests to its 500 employees. In France, “living expenses” budgets are allotted to sales agents so that they can stay in hotels or take taxis after events. The “Alcohol: staying in control to become ambassadors of responsible consumption” booklet is distributed to all Group employees. It contains information on alcohol and its effects, and gives an overview of Group initiatives throughout the world. The goal is to make each employee an ambassador for responsible alcohol consumption.
